Breast Buddies ™ What is Breast Buddies ™? I set up this group when I was diagnosed because I didn't know anyone else in the same situation. It has helped me enormously during this frightening time, and I hope it will also help other women. We're a lively, informal group for women that have been diagnosed with breast cancer at some point in their lives and their support network. Some many have been diagnosed years ago, others recently and may be awaiting or undergoing treatment. The age range of Buddies attending at present ranges from 26 to 68 years of age. It is a safe and confidential environment for the exchange of ideas, feelings and information which creates a win-win situation for all. If you're feeling nervous about coming along, don't worry. Everyone is made to feel welcome quickly. When do we meet and what does it cost? The group meets monthly on the first Thursday of each month between 11am and 2pm. It is not necessary to book, just turn up. If you would prefer to ring first please call 01223 329992 for an informal friendly chat. There is no cost. Contributions are welcome, 100% of which are ploughed directly back into “Breast Buddies ™” which is applying for charity status. There is no formal agenda just a warm, caring atmosphere of mutual support for women with a common goal of living a long, happy and healthy life. Where do we meet? 51 St. Andrews Road, Cambridge CB4 1DH. Forthcoming Breast Buddies ™ Events 10 June 2007 - 2pm Publicity from the Q103 Team, Emma and The Black Thunders. Cream tea afterwards, everyone welcome. Full details: www.raceforlifesponsorme.org webpage 4033 8 September 2007 With supporters, hubbies, boyfriends etc. More information to follow so watch this space. Future Plans I intend to set up a “buddy system”, rather like a dating agency, where a newly diagnosed woman can contact “Breast Buddies ™”. She will be introduced to another woman who has had a similar experience in order to receive relevant, specific and timely support. |
